Mt. Pleasant, Mich. — Fourth of July holiday racing begins Friday, July 1 at the Mt. Pleasant Speedway when the three-eighths mile dirt track hosts a night of Budweiser Mid-Season Championships.

Titles are on the line in the UMP Late Models, Chuck’s Discount Foods UMP Modifieds, Smokers Club UMP Street Stocks, NAPA UMP Modified Mini Stocks, and the Mt. Pleasant and Clare Automotive Stock Minis.

              As the temperatures rise the point battles are also heating up with 10 weeks left in the season after tonight.

Entering the halfway mark, the UMP Late Models are locked in a battle with No. 0K Mike Kresnak leading No. 0X Zack Olger by a mere one point. With his sights set on a possible two championships in one season at the same track, Olger is also within 12 points of six-time Mt. Pleasant Speedway champion No. 15 Rich Robinson Jr. in the UMP Modifieds. In the UMP Street Stocks, veteran driver No. 11 Jeff Loomis has a 16-point advantage over No. 77B Rob Brillhart, 18 over No. 10 Gary Vandermark and 19 over No. 49 Greg Tragis. A dead-heat in the UMP Modified Mini Stocks has No. 16 Joe Burch and defending champion No. 68 Trever Fedewa all knotted up. Finally, over in the Stock Minis, No. 15 Jeff McKenzie has a 38-point lead over defending champion No. 62 Steve Keeler Jr.
